Scripting Course

One of the more interesting classes I have is the Web Scripting class. It teaches HTML coding and how to make web pages and such. Going into the multimedia course I already knew a lot about how HTML works, but its always nice to get a refresher taught by someone in person rather than over an online course that basically says "DO IT YOURSELF!" and no back up.

So far I've been able to understand everything really well and the assignments have been a snap. I've even been able to help out a few other class mates, so that's always a confidence booster. That, and I enjoy helping people... its a super hero complex I've attained from reading too many comic books.

The most interesting thing so far in the course has been the introduction to Dreamweaver, I've only used hand coding before, so the shortcuts Dreamweaver gives is majorly awesome. Definitely looking forward to getting deeper with that.

Breaking in a new home

So this week has been pretty crazy, first week of full classes. I'm half on information overload, and half thriving off of new things learned.  All of my instructors seem pretty accommodating at this point, so it isn't as scary as I thought it would be. My classes have challenge my creativity more than it has been challenged in months. Even the stuff I know how to do seem somehow surreal.... maybe I'm just awestruck by my instructors knowledge of their respective topics. Going from homeschooled to college with 30-40 other people in the same class is crazy.   But most of all after a full week of classes and walking back and forth a half hour to college every morning, I'm bushed.
Definitely looking forward to sleeping in for a change!

Cool video of the week

First Post

Hi, I'm Sarah. I'm currently a first year student at Lethbridge College Alberta, in Multimedia Production. I was told to make a blog for an assignment of mine, but the truth is I've always secretly wanted a blog. I love to write and I have a wad of stored up creativity in my head. So, its a good way of letting it all out. And hey, if it sucks then no one gets to read it but me. Right?

Anyways; back in December a friend of mine showed me this video. I watched it and instantly fell in love. Its pretty cool and I love how the visuals work with the music that the guy chose. Its not EXACTLY what I'm going to be doing, but its sort of a cool representation of the use of technology in art.

And of course all the credits go to the creator of the video... its totally not mine, I just saw it some place and wanted everyone else to see it too.
