Yes, I realize its been a month since I updated..... no I didn't, I forgot to update entirely. I got extraordinarily busy with midterms and projects and a whole bunch of other things. You know what they say... multimedia means you'll always have things multiplied on your to-do list. Okay, I just made that up too. But for a while its what my school schedule was like. I'd manage to take down two projects, only to have 3 more added to my work load.
But now, midterms are over, I've survived, and I'm moving on to the horror that looks like my final project line up. 6 major projects, due in 3 weeks, all within a day of each other. I'm not complaining just yet, I'm just bracing for the impact of the insanity that will be my projects. Getting them done won't be a problem... its finding the TIME to do them that will be the problem. I'm not so hot with the organization of the whole thing. I tend to want to do everything at once, and then tend to get overwhelmed with the enormity of it all. But I'll get it.
What has been going on with me besides school... not a whole lot. My down time usually includes playing games and watching some movies on youtube. My attendance at church activities other than sunday morinng have been deplorably low for the past month, but that was because of the said craziness tackled in the first paragraph. I figure school needs my attention though, without those nights I stayed in the lab til 9 I wouldn't have gotten the things in on time.
The other things that grapples for my attention lately has been the announcement of The Hunger Games official movie trailer. I swear, when I saw it I almost teared up, and I got goosebumps all over. The next day I took the Hunger Games in book form, and read 15 chapters non stop, and then moved on to the next book the next day.
If you've managed to miss the trailer so far here it is. If you just want to watch it again, go right ahead... I've watched it at least 5 times.
March is going to be a busy month for me, with school and the release of Mass Effect 3, and now the Hunger Games, I think my geekiness will be sated for a little bit. At least until Catching Fire is released... then I'll go crazy.
Oh my gosh, Catching Fire is going to be released.

I'm Batman
Okay I'm not Batman, but I've been playing Batman Arkham City since I picked it up on Wednesday. First off, its a massive game. I'm not even close to finishing it. Secondly, it has a ton of references fans will love. So I'm basically star struck with it right now. Rocksteady did an amazing job once again. Story is good, combat is solid (but a little bit repetitive) and gliding through arkham city is super fun. Definitely recommended for lovers of the Bat, or Superheroes in general, or a current Xbox 360, PS3, or PC user.
In other news I now have a twitter... @VivaLaNES if you want to follow... I just got it so I don't know how active I'll be, but a super perk is me being able to sound like Betty White in my head: "the twitters!" (right at the end)
And a sad note, but pretty flipping obvious... the Roughriders are so far out of contention its funny. So any win right now is just trophy points as far as I'm concerned.. its best to play it safe right now and not kill any player's hopes at a further career in football.
It's true, I had a boring week, hopefully something will turn up this week that I can tell you all about.

The Week After
So this is the weekend right after thanksgiving. I'm pretty glad to be back, it seems like going home was just a crazy time and coming back here was the actual vacation. It was awesome to be home for a few days though. That was fun.
Over the last week Portal 2 got a massive DLC release. For those of you who don't know, Portal is a puzzle game made by the company Valve. You shoot one portal on one wall and another portal on a wall all the way across the room and you can go through both portals. It's mind bending at times, especially at three in the morning when really you should be in bed rather than trying to figure out "just one more level."
Anyways, back on track here... the DLC (DownLoadable Content) came out last Wednesday and I unfortunately didn't have my portal 2 disk with me at college. Yay for Thanksgiving weekend! I grabbed it just before I left and played a bit of co-op with my friend over Xbox live.
So all in all I've been doing well. One of the bad things about the long weekends however, is the massive pileup of unfinished work that needed to be done.. I had to stay at the school til 7:30 one night.. and in three days I had 6 quizzes to complete... CRAZY.
That's all for now. See you next week... if I remember.

Thanksgiving Weekend
I know I haven't updated in awhile, and truth be told its not because I've been super busy... I've just been lazy as all get out. So now that I'm home and sleeping in my own bed for a few days I decided to update my blog on time for once.
So its Canadian Thanksgiving on Monday. I've always found American thanksgiving a little weird because its so close to Christmas. I mean... wouldn't you be just putting away the leftover turkey from thanksgiving and then have to crack into another one for Christmas? Turkey overload, no thank you. Canadian thanksgiving is where its at.. not totally freezing yet and you get a nice break from eating Big Bird.
Anyways I've been working on my assignments, all of those seem to be coming along nicely. I'm very used to going to class and being around people now, although I'm not much of a talker when it comes to class conversations. That might be a bad thing because I think there might be a couple extra marks kicking around when you actually participate in discussion. Not like I'm in need of better marks, I'm doing well.
I think after this little vacation is over I'll be set. Now all I need to do is get some awesome clothes from the school bookstore and I'll actually look like a full blown college student when I come back for Christmas break!
For those of you who don't know, I'm a huge fan of comic books...I read them in trades so technically they're called "graphic novels" but whatever I just call them comics. I digress.
A few weeks ago I was searching around on this website and I came across this awesome trailer that some one posted for a comic book movie that people are working on animating. I was so excited I showed a friend that had never even heard of the comic and even she got excited. Its an unfinished project, but I really hope it comes through. I ♥ that series. Its sort of a mix between an old time mobster racket and some supernatural elements. (zombies, warlocks, ghosts, ect) Its super comical, even when it gets a bit dark. It's called The Goon.
Here's the link for the teaser.

Scripting Course
One of the more interesting classes I have is the Web Scripting class. It teaches HTML coding and how to make web pages and such. Going into the multimedia course I already knew a lot about how HTML works, but its always nice to get a refresher taught by someone in person rather than over an online course that basically says "DO IT YOURSELF!" and no back up.
So far I've been able to understand everything really well and the assignments have been a snap. I've even been able to help out a few other class mates, so that's always a confidence booster. That, and I enjoy helping people... its a super hero complex I've attained from reading too many comic books.
The most interesting thing so far in the course has been the introduction to Dreamweaver, I've only used hand coding before, so the shortcuts Dreamweaver gives is majorly awesome. Definitely looking forward to getting deeper with that.

Breaking in a new home
So this week has been pretty crazy, first week of full classes. I'm half on information overload, and half thriving off of new things learned. All of my instructors seem pretty accommodating at this point, so it isn't as scary as I thought it would be. My classes have challenge my creativity more than it has been challenged in months. Even the stuff I know how to do seem somehow surreal.... maybe I'm just awestruck by my instructors knowledge of their respective topics. Going from homeschooled to college with 30-40 other people in the same class is crazy. But most of all after a full week of classes and walking back and forth a half hour to college every morning, I'm bushed.
Definitely looking forward to sleeping in for a change!

First Post
Hi, I'm Sarah. I'm currently a first year student at Lethbridge College Alberta, in Multimedia Production. I was told to make a blog for an assignment of mine, but the truth is I've always secretly wanted a blog. I love to write and I have a wad of stored up creativity in my head. So, its a good way of letting it all out. And hey, if it sucks then no one gets to read it but me. Right?
Anyways; back in December a friend of mine showed me this video. I watched it and instantly fell in love. Its pretty cool and I love how the visuals work with the music that the guy chose. Its not EXACTLY what I'm going to be doing, but its sort of a cool representation of the use of technology in art.

And of course all the credits go to the creator of the video... its totally not mine, I just saw it some place and wanted everyone else to see it too.
